Although the FTC aims to control and regulate the claims made by advertisers, it is near impossible to accurately control every advertisement and marketing statement made through print, television, radio and online advertising.
In the case of a product promising a result from its use, the consumer must use due caution before purchasing - particularly when it comes to online advertising where advertising claims are rarely regulated or enforced. The result is that some individuals and companies are making extravagant claims in regards to their products with little regard for accuracy or legal implication.
In such cases, we aim to do our best to expose these types of organizations and companies. One of the factors we investigated with the MPG-cap program was the validity of their claims and in fact were satisfied with the claims of gas mileage improvement and the factuality of such claims.

Our Review Fuel Freedom International
With rapidly rising gas and energy prices, consumers more than ever are looking for methods to cost effectively reduce their gas pump bills. Recently, a company called Fuel Freedom released a fuel additive called MPG-Cap that promises a increase in fuel mileage of up to 11 percent while increasing horse-power and reducing engine aging.
What is MPG-Cap ?
MPG-Cap is an engine conditioner that is designed to improves fuel economy and horse-power by creating a micro-thin coating on the combustion chamber in car engines creating a more efficient burn through of fuel. The capsule is added to each tank of gas with the idea that it will reduce impurities in your engine, and allow the fuel, whether it be standard gasoline or diesel, to burn cleaner and subsequently produce more power. Controlled testing has shown that MPG-Cap also reduces fuel emissions.
Our Test Results
With Gasoline prices expected this year to hit record highs, the fuel after market is bringing numerous products to consumers that are designed to improve fuel efficiency. Typically, most of these are in the form of octane boosters or products that work to clean fuel injection systems. The problem with many of the claims that these products make is that today's gasoline grades already burn at over 99% efficiency, which doesn't leave a whole lot of performance improvement to be had.
Instead of attempting to increase octane levels, The fuel cap system offered by MPG-cap works to make the gasoline burn more efficiently in the fuel chamber by putting a thin layer of coating that makes your current grade of gas burn more effectively. This coating on the metal surfaces of your burn chamber allows for a 30% increase in pressure on the downward stroke of your pistons. This process is called " In Cylinder Rate Shaping "
Fuel Efficiency Test Results
The MPG-cap fuel economy technology has been tested in a double blind performance series using a 2005 Nissan Altima. The tests over the control period showed an increase in fuel efficiency of 11.1% miles per gallon in comparison to same vehicle, non-use test trials. In addition, the test results showed a decrease in sulfur molecules that can be responsible for the formation of sludge buildups as well as acids that are harmful to engines.

Qualification of Results and Claims
On April 17th, 2006, MPG-caps received clearance from the Federal Trade Commission to expand on their advertised claims regarding the effectiveness of their products. This is in response to crack down by the FTC and the EPA against companies using false advertising to market products designed to improve fuel efficiency. This subsequent decision allows Fuel Freedom to now legally make the claim in their marketing materials that MPG products will provide the user a 7 to 14% increase in fuel economy efficiency.
Smog Efficiency Improvement
With the increase in smog control and emissions regulations across North America and in States with strict emission control laws such as California, MPG-Cap has seen a dramatic rise in popularity thanks to its proven ability to reduce fuel emissions.
